Blender-juicer combinations
Breville 3X Bluicer or 3X Bluicer Pro?
A blender-juicer combo makes sense when both jobs recur in your kitchen. Breville’s 3X Bluicer family uses one motor base with interchangeable blender and juicer setups; the regular BJB615 and 3X Bluicer Pro BJB815 both have a listed 50-ounce blender jug and 3.5-inch feed chute. The Pro changes the control set and its current new-offer terms, rather than increasing jug size. That makes routine and condition more useful decision points than the word “Pro.”
Compare the documented configurations
| Model | Control menu | Listed configuration | Important condition or limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3X Bluicer BJB615 | Five speed settings; Smoothie, Pulse/Ice Crush, Frozen Cocktail and jug-only Auto Clean | 50 oz jug, 3.5 in juicing chute, 3.2 qt pulp bin | New US SKU page is marked discontinued; official remanufactured offer has a six-month warranty, but its page does not state finish or full box contents |
| 3X Bluicer Pro BJB815 | Ten speed settings; adds Green Smoothie to the same menu | 50 oz jug, 3.5 in juicing chute, 3.2 qt pulp bin | Current new US SKU BJB815BSS1BUS1; listed two-year limited warranty |
The jug and chute do not distinguish the two. If a Green Smoothie preset or ten manual speeds is an essential requirement, select the Pro. If five speeds are enough and you are specifically considering a manufacturer-remanufactured Bluicer, the BJB615 may remain relevant, but compare its exact condition, shipped finish, included parts and warranty instead of transferring information from the old new-unit listing.
One machine is not one simultaneous setup
Each model uses the same base for blending or juicing, but the instruction books show two different assemblies. The blender setup places the jug on the base; the juicer setup uses a filter bowl surround, filter basket, cover, locking arm and pulp bin. Breville’s product pages describe combining juice with blended ingredients, which is a recipe possibility, not a promise that the blade jug and juicer assembly are attached and operating at once. You can juice into the jug, then change configurations to blend the drink if that is part of your recipe.
Both listed jugs hold 50 fluid ounces. That nominal capacity is not a separate recommended finished-blend amount, so follow the MAX mark and recipe headroom. The 3.5-inch chute accommodates many pieces of produce without size trimming, according to Breville, but the manual still calls for washing and preparing ingredients, removing citrus rind, and limiting carrots to 6.5 pounds per run. Cold Spin Technology is a maker-described way to limit temperature increase—less than 1.8°F on the product pages—not a chiller.
Account for the cleanup the name hides
Both models have an Auto Clean function, yet each manual confines it to the blender jug and blades. It does not wash out the juicer’s filter basket, cover or pulp bin. Juicing means handling a sharp mesh basket, taking apart the juice-contact pieces and cleaning the screen with a brush. If you make juice only once in a while, that second routine may outweigh the convenience of combining appliances. A regular blender has fewer juicer components to manage; a separate dedicated juicer may suit someone who juices frequently and has room for another machine. Neither comparison is a claim about measured yield or texture.
Heat is an important rejection boundary: both US manuals say not to process hot or boiling liquids and to let them cool before adding them. A 50-ounce jug does not override that instruction. If soups must be blended hot, look for a model with an explicit hot-liquid allowance, such as the documented Breville Q BBL820 option, and follow its own vessel-specific limits.
Choose through your real constraints
Start by asking whether a built-in juicer is essential. If not, compare blender-only models against the batch size and cleaning routine you actually need. If it is, the BJB615 and BJB815 both provide the combo format; choose the Pro when its green-smoothie cycle, ten speeds or new offer are necessary. Choose the BJB615 only when five settings are enough and the remanufactured condition is acceptable. Its general reman policy says six months of warranty, while the new BJB815 page lists two years; those are not interchangeable terms.
Then check your counter dimensions, weight tolerance and how often you will disassemble the juicing parts. Both listings are 15.6 inches wide, 9.3 inches deep and 17.7 inches high; the BJB815 is listed at 17.33 pounds and the BJB615 at 15.12 pounds. The extra Pro weight does not change the jug capacity. If you need at least 64 ounces, a hot-liquid setup, a personal cup in the same package or automatic cleaning of the juicer, neither Bluicer is a match. Use the individual BJB615 assessment and BJB815 assessment to verify the exact controls and offer terms before comparing purchase options.
