Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Is an insulated stainless blending vessel essential?
The Flip’s double-wall steel cup is insulated; it is not a heater or refrigerator.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need the Flip’s 30-second blend-and-turn-to-sip routine?
Its hybrid assembly blends upright with the motor/blade lid over the steel cup, then the unit turns upright for sipping.
Explore this need in the finder →Would you carry the insulated cup without its hybrid motor assembly?
After blending, remove the hybrid assembly and swap on the supplied To-Go lid; nutribullet says that lid is not leak-proof and should remain upright.
Explore this need in the finder →The Black nutribullet Flip NBPB50350AK is the portable-family choice for someone who wants an insulated stainless-steel drink cup, not simply the lightest cordless blender. The manufacturer lists one 20-ounce insulated cup, a hybrid motor/base/blade/lid assembly, a second dual sip/straw Go lid, charging pieces, blade cover, brush and a 10.5-inch stainless angled straw. The guide’s marked MAX line is 16 ounces. That difference matters: the 20-ounce figure describes nominal vessel capacity, while 16 ounces is the safe fill ceiling shown for this operating setup.
A flip-over routine built around one vessel
To blend, the blade and motor assembly sits above the cup. Start with the assembly right-side-up, run the 30-second cycle, then turn the blender upright and open the flip-top sip lid. After blending, the cup can also separate from the hybrid assembly and accept the included To-Go lid, so you can carry the insulated vessel without its motor. That lid is not leak-proof, however; nutribullet says to keep the cup upright when using it. The point of “Flip” is the orientation change during blending and two different post-blend choices—not a speed dial or a sealed travel bottle. The angled straw and cleaning brush help with the drinking paths. The guide says the cup and To-Go lid are the dishwasher-safe parts; the hybrid motor/base/blade/lid cannot go in the dishwasher or be submerged. Clean the blade and sip passage carefully by hand.
The page lists an 11.1V motor and 14-plus 30-second blends per charge under a stated recipe with a new, fully charged unit. Treat that as a qualified manufacturer claim, not an everyday guarantee—ingredients, charge condition and use vary. The manufacturer also says the double-wall cup can keep a drink cold for up to 24 hours. That is not refrigeration and does not guarantee a particular temperature. At 3.45 pounds and 3.87 by 4.25 by 9.12 inches, Flip is heavier than the standard 1.63-pound Portable; portability here means a sealed steel cup and accessories, not a featherweight device.
Respect the fill, temperature and blade rules
The 20-ounce nominal volume is not the amount to load. Follow the cup’s 16-ounce MAX mark, and leave room for ingredients to move. The manual allows ice only within a sufficiently liquid blend, with ice limited to a quarter cup volume; it does not permit ice-only crushing. Hot or warm liquids, carbonated beverages and effervescent ingredients are prohibited. The guide limits ingredients to room-temperature or refrigerated ingredients no warmer than 70°F/21°C and warns against consecutive blending cycles exceeding one minute total. A steel vessel does not make this a hot-soup blender.
The charging package includes a charging block and USB-C cable. The product material checked does not establish a specific full recharge time, so this review does not offer one. It carries a one-year limited warranty. The maker’s cold-retention and cycle-count claims are useful clues about the design, but they are not independent thermal or endurance measurements.
Who should choose the Flip?
Make Flip a candidate if double-wall stainless insulation is an essential vessel preference, a 16-ounce maximum fill is enough, and you want a flip-over routine with a sip/straw lid. It does let you remove the hybrid assembly and carry the cup with the To-Go lid, but that lid is not leak-proof and the manual says to keep it upright. Flex offers a different detachable-base cup arrangement and a removable dishwasher-safe blade block. Selecting the insulated-cup preference should narrow the list to models with a documented insulated blending vessel, not merely a travel tumbler bundled beside a large countertop jar. A 16-ounce MAX line can meet a 16-ounce nominal cup-capacity floor, but it does not mean you can blend a full 16 ounces of ingredients plus ice without room.
Choose the standard nutribullet Portable if you value a lighter unit, a 20-second routine and a 20-ounce cup attached to its base. Choose the Gunmetal Flex if detachable motor-base carrying and a removable dishwasher-safe blade block are more important than steel insulation; its 22-ounce cup is a larger nominal vessel but the product page was out of stock at observation. Avoid substituting the Papaya McLaren Flex if exact capacity matters: its own listing conflicts between 20 and 22 ounces. Flip’s larger accessory set may be helpful, but it also adds the extra hand-cleaning steps around the hybrid blade assembly. It is best for someone who will use the specific insulated cup enough to accept that tradeoff.

Choose around the way you blend.
Start with format and batch, then check manual controls, named programs, exact jar package, clearance and cleanup. In the Propel 510/750 family, a second jar is a separate setup—not extra capacity in one blend—and the Classic Bundle has a distinct hand-wash jar. In the nutribullet Ultra family, the standard NB50500IN has no processor, NB20550ID adds a separate two-cup processor, and only NB50550AKID includes the coffee/spice grinder. In nutribullet portable choices, the NBPB50100 keeps its base attached, Flex separates its base and blade, and Flip uses an insulated steel cup with a 16-ounce MAX line. Flex x McLaren’s exact page conflicts on 20 versus 22 ounces; that unknown should not meet a capacity requirement. The nutribullet Personal Blender NB50150-02 is the 700W refresh with a 21-ounce handled tumbler and a separate 24-ounce cup; use its 55-second plan and exact compatibility note rather than assuming old 600W parts fit. The current nutribullet Pro+ N12-1001MK pairs a separate 24-ounce and 32-ounce cup with a one-minute Blend cycle and manual Pulse; nominal cup labels do not replace the marked MAX line. The exact nutribullet Power Core XL Matte White NBF70100AW-02 lists a 72-ounce pitcher, 64-ounce maximum-liquid line and a maker-suggested minimum 16-ounce batch; its guide supports hot ingredients only in the vented pitcher and expressly says not to crush ice. The nutribullet Lite NBI50200 is a two-speed immersion set with a 30-ounce cup label but a 350 ml manual MAX mark; direct hot-pot blending does not specify a maximum pot or hot volume. The current McLaren Pro NB9-0901MC lists separate 32- and 24-ounce cups but showed out of stock; the discontinued Matte Eucalyptus SKU lists two separate 32-ounce cups. Oster MyBlend Plus SAP 2126144 is one cold-only sport-bottle setup; Easy-to-Clean SAP 2181510 keeps its glass pitcher and separate 20-ounce cup in different plans, and unknown cup instructions stay unknown. Oster MyBlend Plus SAP 2126144 is one cold-only sport-bottle setup; Easy-to-Clean SAP 2181510 keeps its glass pitcher and separate 20-ounce cup in different plans, and unknown cup instructions stay unknown. The Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender 50181FG/FJ, 50182FG/FJ and 50183F/FJ family has one 48-ounce BPA-free jar, while its directly linked guide names 50180 rather than those exact codes; check the supplied manual before planning a hot batch.
