A useful fit for

For a household wanting a 68-ounce jug, five manual speeds, four named recipe programs and documented hot-liquid handling, without an included personal-cup package.

The main tradeoff

Fewer manual speed settings than Super Q, no included personal cup and no noise-suppression claim on the exact product page. The tall jug’s hot-liquid ceiling is below nominal jar volume.

Breville’s Q (model BBL820) is the middle ground between a simple five-speed jar blender and the brand’s more elaborate Super Q: the current US page lists one 68-ounce BPA-free jug, five manual speeds, four one-touch recipe programs, a dedicated Auto Clean function and a tamper. Its exact current finish is Smoked Hickory, SKU BBL820SHY1BUS1. This configuration is a corded household countertop machine, not a commercial blender merely because Breville uses that phrase in its marketing.

A large jug and a compact control menu

The Q’s 68-ounce jug is its central advantage over the Fresh & Furious’s 50-ounce container. It gives a higher nominal capacity floor, though nominal volume is not the same as the best working amount for every mixture. The main jug is dishwasher-safe according to the manual, and the lid is designed to vent steam while helping contain splatter. The product page lists 10.5 by 8.1 by 18 inches, so the height deserves a check against cabinets or an appliance garage before purchase.

Breville names four jug programs: Pulse/Ice Crush, Smoothie, Green Smoothie and Soup. The five manual speeds leave room to adjust a blend without choosing a preset. A separate Auto Clean control is a cleaning routine, not another recipe program. The combination is simpler than the Super Q’s twelve speeds and five recipe presets, but not stripped down to a single on/off cycle: you can choose a speed or let one of the named programs manage its time and speed profile.

The Soup setting is described as a cold-to-hot program, which works by blending ingredients from room temperature. The manual warns not to add hot ingredients when using the soup program. Treat that distinction literally: it is not an instruction to process a freshly boiling pot in the jug or a substitute for following the separate 40-ounce hot-liquid maximum for permitted hot-liquid use.

Respect the reduced hot-liquid fill amount

The manual allows hot liquids up to 40 ounces in this 68-ounce jug, with the inner measuring cap in place. Breville explains that the cap vents pressure and reduces splashing; the instructions also warn that steam and trapped hot liquid can escape when you remove the lid. Use the reduced limit rather than filling to the jug’s maximum capacity. If your routine requires a hot batch larger than 40 ounces in a single run, the Q does not meet that constraint by virtue of its larger nominal jug.

The included tamper is for moving thick ingredients toward the blade area with the lid in place and the inner cap removed as directed. It is a helpful tool for dense recipes, but the manufacturer’s accessory list is not a promise that every nut butter, frozen mix or flour recipe will work without adjustment. Start with Breville’s instructions and recipes; the watt rating or motor language alone cannot predict a particular result.

What it leaves out compared with Super Q

The Q shares the Super Q’s published 1,800-watt rating, 68-ounce jug, five-program-versus-four-program relationship and 40-ounce hot-liquid ceiling. However, the Q has five speed settings rather than twelve, no included personal cup and no noise-suppression feature claim on its product page. It is also listed at 12.61 pounds, compared with 15.48 pounds for the Super Q. Both are 18 inches high on their published dimension lists, so the smaller weight should not be confused with a shorter machine.

For a household that needs a personal-size drink to go, the Super Q is the one of these three reviewed packages that includes the separate cup and its blade system. That cup has its own use limits and only a subset of the jug presets. If you never expect to use it, the Q’s package avoids adding that separate cup and blade attachment to the cupboard. Both machines are compatible with Breville’s optional Vac Q, but that accessory is sold separately and is not counted as included equipment.

Where Fresh & Furious fits instead

Fresh & Furious is shorter in listed height by a small amount and has a narrower 6.9-inch stated width, while the Q’s listed dimensions are 10.5 by 8.1 by 18 inches. It uses a 50-ounce BPA-free Tritan jug, five speeds, Smoothie, Green Smoothie and Ice Crush presets, a timer and a three-year limited warranty. Its manual forbids hot or boiling ingredients and says to cool them before loading. That makes the Q the more appropriate documented choice if a hot-liquid allowance, a 68-ounce nominal jug or the one-touch soup cycle is essential; it does not make the Q a universal substitute for every blending need.

The Q’s current US page shows the Smoked Hickory BBL820 finish. It has a seven-year limited warranty, and the product page describes an ABS construction material for the base; do not mistake that listing for a stainless-steel model. For a shopper who needs a larger jar, several useful presets, a manually selected speed and a documented 40-ounce hot-liquid limit—but not an included travel cup—the Q makes a clear, specific case. Choose Super Q if its extra control range and cup are worth the additional setup; choose Fresh & Furious if a smaller nominal jar and its own simple three-preset menu better suit your counter and routine.

Choose around the way you blend.

Start with format and batch, then check manual controls, named programs, exact jar package, clearance and cleanup. In the Propel 510/750 family, a second jar is a separate setup—not extra capacity in one blend—and the Classic Bundle has a distinct hand-wash jar. In the nutribullet Ultra family, the standard NB50500IN has no processor, NB20550ID adds a separate two-cup processor, and only NB50550AKID includes the coffee/spice grinder. In nutribullet portable choices, the NBPB50100 keeps its base attached, Flex separates its base and blade, and Flip uses an insulated steel cup with a 16-ounce MAX line. Flex x McLaren’s exact page conflicts on 20 versus 22 ounces; that unknown should not meet a capacity requirement. The nutribullet Personal Blender NB50150-02 is the 700W refresh with a 21-ounce handled tumbler and a separate 24-ounce cup; use its 55-second plan and exact compatibility note rather than assuming old 600W parts fit. The current nutribullet Pro+ N12-1001MK pairs a separate 24-ounce and 32-ounce cup with a one-minute Blend cycle and manual Pulse; nominal cup labels do not replace the marked MAX line. The exact nutribullet Power Core XL Matte White NBF70100AW-02 lists a 72-ounce pitcher, 64-ounce maximum-liquid line and a maker-suggested minimum 16-ounce batch; its guide supports hot ingredients only in the vented pitcher and expressly says not to crush ice. The nutribullet Lite NBI50200 is a two-speed immersion set with a 30-ounce cup label but a 350 ml manual MAX mark; direct hot-pot blending does not specify a maximum pot or hot volume. The current McLaren Pro NB9-0901MC lists separate 32- and 24-ounce cups but showed out of stock; the discontinued Matte Eucalyptus SKU lists two separate 32-ounce cups. Oster MyBlend Plus SAP 2126144 is one cold-only sport-bottle setup; Easy-to-Clean SAP 2181510 keeps its glass pitcher and separate 20-ounce cup in different plans, and unknown cup instructions stay unknown. The Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender 50181FG/FJ, 50182FG/FJ and 50183F/FJ family has one 48-ounce BPA-free jar, while its directly linked guide names 50180 rather than those exact codes; check the supplied manual before planning a hot batch.
