Cordless package choices
nutribullet Portable, Flex or Flip: choose the exact portable design
Four portable configurations from nutribullet’s U.S. category illustrate why “cordless personal blender” is not a single design. The NBPB50100 Portable keeps its base under the cup; Flex lets the base twist off and removes its blade block for cleaning; the Papaya McLaren Flex shares the Flex format but has a contradictory exact-page cup size; Flip uses a double-wall steel cup with a 16-ounce MAX line. A fifth category card, Flex 2-pack, was observed but is not compared as a confirmed package: its selected two-color bundle page and its one-unit inclusion list disagree, and the image found for the bundle shows different colors. Resolve those details before treating that listing as an exact buying choice.
Start with the physical vessel, not the color
| Exact configuration | Documented operating difference | Limit that changes the choice |
|---|---|---|
| Portable NBPB50100W White / NBPB50100MGMC McLaren Gray | One handled 20-ounce cup stays with a 7.4V motor base; 20-second cycle; manufacturer claims 15+ cycles per charge. | No detachable-base carry cup; respect its MAX mark, and do not blend hot, bubbly or ice-only loads. |
| Flex NBPB50200ID Gunmetal Gray | 22-ounce cup twists off the 7.4V base; blade block also detaches; 30-second cycle and 11+ cycles per charge claimed. The page does not specify resin or identify double-wall insulation. | Page showed Out of Stock. Nominal 22 ounces is not a safe fill line; cup, lid and blade block are top-rack only without heat/sanitize. |
| Flex x McLaren NBPB50200PAMC Papaya | Flex’s 30-second, detachable-base and removable-blade routine is described for this SKU. | The exact U.S. page says 20 ounces in one section and 22 in another. No capacity minimum should pass until reconciled. |
| Flip NBPB50350AK Black | 20-ounce nominal double-wall steel cup; 30-second hybrid blend-and-turn routine; 16-ounce MAX line. | 3.45 pounds with hybrid assembly; cup and To-Go lid are top-rack safe, but the blade/motor/lid needs careful hand cleaning. |
Choose the handling routine that you will actually use
The standard Portable is the least fussy package in this group. Its motor remains attached to the 20-ounce vessel, and its short 20-second routine is an intentional fit for a single cold shake or smoothie. That compactness has a consequence: you carry the motor with your drink. Flex is one alternative if you want a lighter carry cup and a detachable blade block. Flip also lets the cup separate after blending, but to carry it without the motor assembly you must replace that assembly with the included To-Go lid; that lid is not leak-proof and must stay upright. These differences matter more than simply asking whether a product is cordless.
The two McLaren versions should not be conflated. Gray NBPB50100MGMC is a finish option for the standard Portable and shares its documented 20-ounce cup and 20-second plan. Papaya NBPB50200PAMC is a Flex collaboration, and its exact U.S. page has the 20/22-ounce conflict. A global Flex manual or an orange product image is not a substitute for a consistent SKU-specific size label. If size is essential, choose the Gunmetal single NBPB50200ID only when its 22-ounce model is available, or keep looking for a model whose own U.S. page and box agree. Do not let a brand collaboration name turn a missing exact fact into a positive match.
Insulation has a cost in weight and cleaning
Flip changes the vessel material as well as its use. Its insulated stainless cup is designed to keep a drink cold for up to 24 hours according to the manufacturer, but that is not a refrigerator and not an independently tested temperature claim. The cup holds 20 ounces nominally, yet its MAX mark is only 16 ounces. The routine starts with the motor/blade/lid above the cup and turns the whole unit upright after the 30-second blend. The maker’s extra straw, brush and sip lid support drinking, but the hybrid blade/motor/lid remains the hand-cleaning task; do not put it in the dishwasher or immerse it. Someone who wants a top-rack removable blade should prefer Flex. Someone who wants the insulated vessel can accept Flip’s added weight and cleaning steps.
For all of these models, the nominal cup size is a comparison point, not a recipe amount. Use the exact MAX line. The reviewed manuals prohibit hot or warm contents, carbonated drinks and effervescent ingredients. They require enough liquid for blending and do not permit ice-only operation. Flip’s manual says no more than one minute total; Flex sets its own cadence of 30-second runs and four consecutive cycles within three minutes. Do not transfer a cycle count or care instruction just because the products share a logo.
Use the questions as actual constraints
Choose a portable control routine if you care about how the cycle works: one 20-second run for standard Portable, one 30-second Flex run with removable blade, or Flip’s 30-second blend-and-turn-to-sip. Ask for a cup that separates from the motor only when you mean the Flex-style lighter carry, not simply a to-go lid. Ask for an insulated blending vessel only when double-wall steel itself matters; a plastic handled cup is not insulated. A numeric size minimum should use the same cup plan you will blend in, and an unknown value such as the Papaya Flex conflict must fail rather than be guessed. Finish selection can identify exact U.S. model terms, but color does not imply a different motor or recipe program unless the exact page proves it.
