Setup and ownership
Vitamix Explorian jar fit, care and compatibility
Blender care is not just a rinse. A container's blade assembly is sharp, the motor base has electrical components and replacement jars can belong to different Vitamix generations. The Explorian owner manuals give a model-specific routine for cleaning, hot ingredients and older-container fit. Keep the manual for the exact base and container together.
Use the self-cleaning cycle as directed
The reviewed Explorian manuals describe adding warm water and a small amount of dish soap to the jar, securing the lid, and running the machine for roughly 30–60 seconds. Rinse and let the container dry as the instructions specify. This routine can dislodge residue from ordinary blending, but it does not replace careful cleaning after a sticky or oily mixture. Follow any food-safety or recipe-specific cleaning needs as well.
Switch the blender off and unplug the motor base before cleaning. The manuals prohibit immersing the motor base; wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Never reach into the blade area, even when it looks still. The product pages call the reviewed containers dishwasher safe, but consult the exact manual and current labeling for the included jar and separate accessories.
Hot ingredients need a different start
For hot mixtures, the manuals say to begin at speed 1 and increase gradually. Secure the lid and do not fill the container to its maximum: hot ingredients may expand or splash as blending starts. Use the supplied tamper only through the lid opening and only as directed for the correct jar. A larger 64-ounce jar does not mean you can ignore the prescribed headroom or overfill limits.
Compatibility depends on the container generation
The E310 and new E320 US manuals state that legacy C- and G-Series containers work with those bases, while Vitamix Self-Detect containers do not. This statement is specific to the reviewed Explorian models and should not be applied to every Vitamix base. The manual also cautions that lids and tampers fit particular container styles. Before reusing a jar, identify its series and match the correct lid and tamper; brand name alone is not enough.
The E310 manual discusses a compatible 20-ounce blending cup used with a separately purchased Personal Cup Adapter. That is a separate accessory arrangement, not an included E310 jar. The E520 Chilly Tumblers serve as drinkware and do not have the blade base described for a personal blending cup. If you need a small blending vessel, verify the adapter and cup against the exact base and current support instructions.
Clearance and parts deserve a check before buying
The maker's E320 product-page dimensions and manual dimensions differ, as do parts of the E310/E520 published measurements. Measure the countertop footprint and overhead clearance yourself, including room to lift off the jar and lid. If either a tight shelf or an older spare jar is essential, get confirmation from Vitamix before purchase. For exact package distinctions, compare the E310, E320 and E520 reviews.
